Jackson Hospitality Services Company Profile
Hospitality Is Our Middle Name
The success of JHS lies in part with its seasoned management. Led by Founder and Chairman Cory Jackson, Sr. and supported by sons Cory Jr. and Neal, JHS is a team of experienced hotel professionals dedicated to providing excellent management for the properties that the company services.
1970s: Company Beginnings
JHS was originally founded by Cory Jackson, Sr., in 1977 as Jackson Motel Management Company. The roots of hospitality run deep in the Jackson Family. Immediately after the Korean War, Mr. Jackson's father had the vision to develop a new motor hotel along busy highway 78 on the eastern side of Birmingham. The neat white motel soon developed a reputation for cleanliness and service that turned Motel Birmingham into an Alabama landmark.
Having worked in all aspects of the family operation, Cory Sr. had his first taste of hotel management at the Motel Birmingham. A mortgage banker by trade, Mr. Jackson would found Jackson Motel Management when the family's mortgage banking business was sold in the late 1970s.
Mr. Jackson would go on to develop and manage several Sheraton and Holiday Inn properties in the Birmingham area during the 1970s, including the wildly successful Sheraton Mountain Brook Inn.
1980s: Steady Growth - Key West Inns are Born
Jackson Motel Management grew steadily through the decade of the eighties, developing and operating many successful properties, including the landmark Sheraton Perimeter Park South in Birmingham and the Sheraton Capstone in Tuscaloosa.
Jackson became involved in franchising during the mid 1980s, seeing the need for smaller hotels in niche markets around the Southeast. The chain, Key West Inns, has developed into a solid regional chain under Jackson's leadership.
1990s: Name Change Reflects Positioning
In 1991, Jackson Motel Management Company became Jackson Hospitality Services, better representing the company's general focus as it developed into a major national hotel management company.
Now in its fourth decade, JHS growth and opportunities continue, allowing the company to marshall an ever-increasing resource of talent and experience to service its current and expanding portfolio.
Jackson Hospitality Services management staff, at both the corporate and property levels, actively support and participate in numerous professional lodging organizations. JHS Hospitality Industry Memberships are often in leadership positions.
